A Sterling Story

Sterling Hallmark was opened on June 1, 1969 by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Allegra;  Before opening this Hallmark store, they owned a store in Bergen County which was opened in 1956; This store sold newspapers, candy, and tobacco; a news store. In 1982 Sterling Hallmark remodeled the store for the first time.  Again, in 1993, after the passing of Joseph Allegra Sr. his sons, Joseph and Michael decided to remodel again; This time, the store was doubled in size from 2,500 square feet to 5,000 square feet; in 1999, the final remodel was completed making the Sterling Store 5,500 square feet. Then, on June 1, 2001, the Summit Store and then on August 1, 2003 the final store in Chatham was opened.
